What does an engine rebuild involve?

A full engine rebuild involves completely removing the engine from the vehicle, stripping it down to the bare block, inspecting and measuring every component, replacing worn or damaged parts, coordinating any machining work required, and reassembling the engine to manufacturer specifications. The rebuilt engine is then run-in, tested for oil pressure and leaks, and refitted to the vehicle before a final road test.

Most engine rebuilds take between 5 and 10 working days, depending on the complexity of the engine, parts availability, and whether machining work is required. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we assess your vehicle and keep you updated throughout the process.

In most cases, yes. A professionally rebuilt engine can last as long as the original - often longer and typically costs significantly less than a new or reconditioned replacement unit. It also avoids the risk of unknown history that comes with a second-hand engine. We'll give you an honest assessment of whether a rebuild is the right option for your vehicle.

What warranty do you offer on engine rebuilds?

Accepted Answer

Every engine rebuilt by Piston Pros comes with a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labour. The warranty covers defects in workmanship and parts supplied by us. It does not cover damage caused by subsequent neglect, incorrect oil specification, or external factors outside our control.

If it's mechanical, we can fix it.
